Cantor, Geoffrey

Overview

Geoffrey Cantor is professor emeritus of the history of science at the University of Leeds and senior honorary research associate at UCL.

His publications include Michael Faraday: Scientist and Sandemanian. A Study of Science and Religion in the Nineteenth Century (1991), Quakers, Jews, and Science: Religious Responses to Modernity and the Sciences in Britain, 1650–1900 (2005) and Religion and the Great Exhibition of 1851 (2011). He was co-director (with Sally Shuttleworth) of the SciPer (Science in the Nineteenth Century Periodical) Project and has co-edited volumes 1 and 5 of The Correspondence of John Tyndall (2014 & 2018).
