RODRIGUEZ-CASO, JUAN MANUEL

HISTORY, HISTORY OF SCIENCE

Juan Manuel Rodriguez-Caso holds a PhD in History and Philosophy of Science from the School of Philosophy, Religion and History of Science, University of Leeds, United Kingdom.

He studied Bachelor and M.Sc. in Biological Sciences at UNAM (National Autonomous University of Mexico). He is currently doing a postdoctoral stay at the School of Philosophy and Letters, UNAM, developing a project on the history of the institutionalisation of biology in BAAS meetings between 1865 and 1894.

His main areas of interest are the history of Darwinism in different cultural contexts, the dialogue between science and religion, the development of Victorian anthropology, and discussions around contemporary bio-anthropological issues.

At this moment, he is also beginning a project on the relations between science, religion and nationalism in Mexico during the nineteenth century. He is a member of several international scientific societies, such as the British Society for the History of Science (BSHS) Historiadores de las Ciencias y de las Humanidades, A.C., and the International Society for History, Philosophy and Social Studies of Biology (ISHPSSB).
