Overview

Natalia Zarzeczna is a Research Associate at the Department of Psychology of the University of Amsterdam. She is interested in belief systems, stereotypes, and prejudice. Currently, she is working on an ERC funded project awarded to Bastiaan Rutjens. The aim of the project is to provide a unified theoretical framework to understand science scepticism.

Before joining the University of Amsterdam, she worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham (UK) on a multidisciplinary research project: ‘Science and Religion: Exploring the Spectrum Global Perspective.’ Her role involved investigating perceptions of science and religion in the context of social identity, stereotyping, and prejudice reduction.

She obtained her PhD at Cardiff University (UK). In her project, she examined the extent to which basic perceptual processes, such as perceptions of physical space, are associated with automatic stereotypes about gender and social power (see Zarzeczna, von Hecker, Proulx, & Haddock, 2020, in JEP:HPP).
